San Diego Beach Session at Sunset Cliffs | Gene + Shay

Gene + Shay are seriously such an adorable pair. Getting to work with these two was such a freaking blast. Their story is so cute. The two meet online, and went on their first date the day before the world shut down in March 2020. Six months later, they bought a van together and eventually began traveling the US with their two cats (I loveeee fellow vanlifers with cats!). I met Gene and Shay briefly in September 2021, and finally got to know them more in January this year. Seeing that we were all in San Diego at the same time, I jumped at the chance to shoot with them at the beach, and they did NOT disappoint, that’s for sure! These two are so fun-loving and goofy. When they’re together, I can practically see the love they have for each other radiating out of their souls. It was truly an honor to capture some of that with them.

We found a quiet little corner of the beach at Sunset Cliffs and laughed our hearts out as Gene + Shay splashed through the water and rolled around in the sand. With these two being so comfortable in front of the camera, we were able to get some truly genuine moments of love out of our time at the beach. Gene + Shay are content creators, and they are always sharing such valuable information about what it’s like to live on the road as a queer couple with their two cats! I love being able to bond with other people who have cats on the road, and getting to know these two more was such a pleasure. I am excited to continue to watch their travels and see their relationship grow stronger down the road.
